DUT launches six-week Parent-Child Attachment Play course

Shout out to parents and guardians!

We’ll soon be starting our new Parent-Child Attachment Play (PCAP) course at the Deborah Ubee Trust.

It’s a six-week course beginning Monday 23rd January 2023

Who is this for? Do you sometimes feel disconnected from your child/children? Wondering how to communicate with them more effectively, so that they understand you and you understand each other without unnecessary misunderstandings, stress, upset, arguments, anger etc? If so, please continue reading as this course will be of great interest and benefit. This attachment play based course is about bridging that gap and helping you and your child/children feel more connected, understood, heard, safe and secure in yourselves and in your relationship.

What is PCAP? Parent child attachment play is a gentle play-based approach aimed at improving the attachment quality of the parent – child relationship, using attachment strategies/research and child-oriented play with parent/carers and their children. (Children DO NOT attend the course)

What the course entails: it is a 6-week programme and commitment, which is essential for a place on the course. Each week will be focused on your relationship with your child/children. And as the title states, it involves playing! Which may feel daunting to some, but it is designed to feel safe, as well as time for self-reflection, self-awareness, and hopefully fun for you too. It covers proven strategies and techniques to help bridge any gaps or frustrations in the child-parent relationship and promote healthier, happier, and more loving connections and communication.

When will it be running? It will start on Monday 23rd January and run until Monday 6th March (6 weeks, excluding half-term on 13th February 2023).  Every Monday 10.00 to 11.30am

Cost: £30 for the whole course (places limited so please book early.)

Location: Deborah Ubee Trust, Greenwich, London. SE10 8JS
